Inspired by the unsettling world of Junji Ito, this handcrafted foam wig embodies the hypnotic horror of spirals that Junji ito brought to his short story “Medusa”. The exaggerated, swirling locks evoke a sense of eerie movement and the utter ridiculousness. Designed to blend the stark contrast of manga-style linework with three-dimensional sculptural form, the piece brings Ito’s signature aesthetic to life in a wearable, dynamic creation.

Crafted entirely from lightweight foam, the wig was 3D-Modeled and Patterned using Pepakura. The spirals were designed to support each other in a way that made it appear gravity defying and each spiral is hand-shaped, painted, and textured to replicate the intricate cross-hatching seen in Ito’s illustrations.
